1-day Seminar on Horticulture Methods held

DIMAPUR, MAY 18 (MExN): A one day Seminar on horticulture crops was held at CBCC Conference Hall, Pfutsero on 13th May, 2011.  The Seminar was organized by NOAH GRANDPA (Nagaland Organic Agri-Horti Growers Resources and Nursery Development and plantation Association) based at Kohima. About 90 leaders from various Self Help Groups and progressive farmers participated in the program. The program was aimed to uplift rural economy and encourage large scale production of horticultural products. Neiba Kronu, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board delivered the key note address. He stressed on the need for self reliance; to tie up with ICAR, and banks for loans, rather than to always depend on government subsidies. The Resource person Rinku Bharali, SMS Horticulture from KVK, Phek spoke on the methods of cultivation of Lime, Plum, Cardamom, and Kiwi. The association will provide the saplings free of cost and ask the beneficiaries to be honest while implementing the projects. The program winded up with concluding remarks by Rev. Dr. Dingu Kenye
