Dimapur, October 12 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has informed that an NSCN (K) functionary was arrested during a joint operation carried out in general area Old Medical Colony, Tuensang on October 9. The 40 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) along with police representative carried out the operation after specific input and arrested the cadre identified as Colonel H Akhum Yimchunger alias Pamei (33 years), a resident of Kephor in Tuensang district, informed a press release from PRO HQ IGAR (North) Lt Col Amitabh Sharma. One point 22 pistol with magazine, nine Live rounds of point 22 pistol and extortion notes were also recovered from him, it said. The cadre along with the recovered items handed over to Police Station Tuensang for further investigation, it added.
