10th Silver Cup: United CC and Diphu XI to clash in final today

Kohima, November 22 (MExN): United Cricket Club Jakhama and Diphu XI today became the ultimate two teams for the final of the 10th Silver Cup organized by the youth department of Nepali Baptist Church, Kohima at Jakhama Local Ground here.


The final match of the tournament between United CC Jakhama and Diphu XI will be played at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 23.


The match will be followed by prize distribution ceremony at 1:30 pm with Nagaland Cricket Association vice president K Herato Sukhalu as chief guest.


Meanwhile, playing the first semi-final match today, United CC humbled defending champions Esa Warriors by 6 wickets. 


Esa warriors won the toss and taking the bat they set a comfortable 118 runs losing 9 Wickets  in 20 overs. Ritupan contributed 31 runs while Roshan added 20 runs. United CC bowlers Saurav Dey took 4 wickets giving while Amitava Das took 2 wickets.


Chasing 119 runs, United CC Jakhama reached the target in 18.2 overs losing 4 wickets. Saurav Dey scored the highest 47 runs while Rejaul Alam was not out at 14. Esa Warriors bowler Hanilong took 2 wickets.


Saurav Dey was awarded man of the match.


Playing the 2nd semi-final, Diphu XI defeated Silver Backs by 4 wickets.


Having won the toss, Silver Backs elected to bat and scored 96 runs losing all  wickets in 17.1 overs. Diphu XI bowlers Raju took 4 wickets and was supported by Vicky Hanse’s 3 wickets. 


In reply, Diphu XI reached the target in 19. 1 overs losing 6 wickets with Rahul scoring 27 runs and Sarklimso scoring 21 runs.  Silver Backs bowler Gourab took 3 wickets.


Man of the match was awarded to Raju.
