11 teams to vie for OBT
Hectic preparations going on at Kohima for the upcoming 10th Open Basketball Tournament in Khuociezie Local Ground.


Kohima, May 5 (MExN): The 10th edition of Open Basketball Tournament (OBT) is all set to begin from May 7 to 12 at Khuochiezie Local Ground Kohima. Altogether, 11 teams including defending champion Taurus will compete on a league basis to vie for the coveted title.


Pool A consist of Last Kings, Ephriam, Stallions, Orca and Akelos with TMB as the pool leader while Pool B include Mission Giant, S. Naga Trouncers, Ophidian and Cretan’ Bulls with Taurus as it’s pool leader.


The champions will walk away richer with Rs 60,000 and runners-up with Rs 30,000 along with trophies and citations. Both losing semi- finalists will receive Rs 10,000 each while Most Valuable Player of the tournament will also pocket Rs 10,000.


The tournament is a one of a kind in Nagaland which will have digital scoreboard, 24 second shot clock, hydraulic rings, fluorescent indoor lighting, LED board display, and live coverage like last year.


The matches will be played under the guidelines of Federation International Basketball Association (FIBA), the governing body of world basketball.


The opening function of the tournament will commence at 1 pm. Following the thread of the last edition, matches will go on till 8 pm. Around 20 stalls will be set up in the arena where the fans can go and enjoy different varieties of foods and drinks. Throughout the tournament, few lucky fans will be picked from the ticket serial numbers and be given free food vouchers.


The 6-day tournament is being organised by Nagaland Basketball Association in association with Suncity Kohima.
