21st Inter Club Cricket Tournament from today

Mokokchung | January 5 : The 21st Inter Club Cricket Tournament organized by the Mokokchung District Cricket Association (MDCA) will be held from January 6 – 19, 2011 at two venues, Imkongmeren Sports Complex and Assam Rifles Ground. Twenty two clubs have registered themselves for the district’s biggest cricket tourney. The tournament will be played in the T20 format and all “rules and regulations laid down by the ICC shall be applied as far as possible,” according to the organizers. In a set of ‘Terms and Conditions’ issued by the organizers, it was stated that all teams must play in proper uniforms and that an innings must be completed within the stipulated time of 90 minutes. Playing teams are also being informed to report at the venue before 30 minutes to the start of the match. It was also informed that in case of a tie in a particular match, the match winner shall be decided by the ‘bowl out’ rule.  The teams have been divided into 6 groups, where the group stage will be played on the league match basis. Leaders from each group will play in a ‘Super Six’ league match round, and the two best teams will qualify for the final match, to be played on January 19, 2011 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex. In case of a tie to decide the leaders of each group, including that of the super six round, the organizers informed that the leaders will be decided by calculating the net run rate aggregate. “In case of bad weather, the overs of the innings may be reduced and if the bad weather persists, the match will be declared abandoned,” MDCA said. Two matches will be played on each of the venues daily, with the first match beginning at 8:00 am and the second match beginning at 12:00 noon.
