2268 dogs registered in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, September 8 (DIPR): With a view to safeguard public health and safety, Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) in collaboration with the local ward authorities under Mokokchung municipality has launched the Dog Registration and Proper Control of Dogs Rules and Regulations, 2017 with effect from September 4, 2017. The MMC along with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and local ward authorities carried out the dog registration and vaccination drive on September 4 and 5. A total of 2268 dogs, covering all the 18 wards under MMC, were registered.  

The MMC arranged the vaccine at a subsidized rate of Rs.50/ and registration fee of Rs.200/ was realized per dog. 60% of the registration fees will go to the concerned local authorities, to be utilized for effective implementation enforcement and sensitization activities, and the remaining 40% to the municipality, for stationary and procurement of uniform dog tag for identification of all the registered dogs.  

MMC while acknowledging all the dog owners for their co-operation and support, further reminded all concerned to strictly comply with the Dog Registration and Proper Control of Dogs Rules and Regulations, 2017 so as to avoid penalties to be monitored by the ward authorities.
