Hope Centre summer art workshop concludes
A valedictory programme was held at the centre today, where the children showcased their works of the past week, which ranged from pencil sketching, painting, clay modelling and animation, and collage.
Chitre commenting on the workshop’s objective said it focussed mainly on observation i.e. indepth figure studies, and articulation i.e. expressing one’s ideas through art be it sketching, painting or animation or through clay. For layman understanding, articulation is developing that language inorder to express. Art encourages the exploration of ideas and thus, it is important to see what the children have done, she said.
However, unlike in other places parents do not give that much thrust in the subject here. Otherwise the children here are no less, she observed. “There’s an incredible amount of talent among the kids around here”, an impressed Chitre said of the children and  the progress they have made during the past week.
The centre’s director Zubeno Mozhui, noticing the potential of art as a strong medium of expression said the centre is hoping to conduct further workshops. She particularly thanked the NEZCC for supporting Hope Centre For Excellence since its inception.  The programme today had in attendance Talinokcha, joint director, NEZCC; and Tara Douglas, secretary of Adivasi Act Thrust as well as parents of the participants. Douglas is here in Nagaland to do an animation film on Angami folklore.
