287 Ukhrul schools receive uniforms and textbooks under SSA project

Ukhrul | June 23 : Under Sirva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) educational project, many school uniforms and textbooks were distributed at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, today. Concern village-school Headmasters from all over 287 schools in the district collected the packages after a short distribution ceremony with the chief guest Rita Leiyaphi, Assistant Commissioner Ukhrul along with Ukhrul Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) N. Everest who is also the District Project Officer in the SSA and his sub-ordinate staffs. The items were brought from Imphal in two full LP trucks.
The chief guest in her speech appealed all concern staffs and Headmasters, teacher in-charge engaged in the distribution of the school items to reach every single deserving student, so that the poor students can avail the Central Plan Policy of Provision to have the access to the right of compulsory education. The programme was indeed one mega events of SSA achievements so far for the people and the Ukhrul SSA monitoring office. SSA targets the grants to reach out to almost 40,000 Schedule Caste students in Ukhrul district, the District Co-Ordinator Wonthing A. Shimray asserted.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Capo kapai, ADPO SSA Ukhrul. The school gear included white shirts, pants and skirts and reading materials included books on subjects of English Course books, EVS. Maths, Hindi and Manipuri.
On receiving the news of the free distribution, many parents and elders said that Government is good but the people are not good and in the matter of subjects, many people disagreed in distribution of Hindi and Manipuri subjects when there are no teachers of the subjects in most of the Schools.
