2nd installment for PMS 2017-2018 in a week’s time

Kohima, January 21 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has expressed optimism that students will receive the remaining amount of the second and final installment for Post Matric Scholarship (PMS) 2017-2018 in a week’s time. The Nagaland State Government has given the sanction order to this effect on January 11, it informed.

In a press release from ANSCU President Katho P Awomi and General Secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso, the Union appreciated the Nagaland State Government and Minister of Higher & Technical Education Temjen Imna Along for “acquiring the second and final Installment for Post Matric Scholarship 2017-2018.”

“The Union therefore is optimistic that the students will be receiving the remaining scholarship amount in a week time after necessary approvals are completed,” the release said.

Further, the ANCSU informed that the State Government has “released additional fund for State Merit scholarship beneficiaries of year 2017-2018, whose scholarships were denied due to the wrong Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) indication in the marksheet, after reconsideration.”

“As informed by the department and confirmed from the bank, the said merit beneficiaries’ scholarship amounts have been deposited to the bank for disbursement,” the release added.

The Union also appealed to the public “not to speculate and circulate unauthenticated allegations on scholarship as it may invite apprehensions from the central ministry that can even result in sabotaging the PMS funding.”

Reminding the State Government that the time frame asked by the government to address several issues has expired months ago, the ANCSU has strongly urged the Government “to come out clear in regard to the Kohima Science College land encroachment issue; status report of cases regarding land encroachment of government colleges/institutions in all districts; and on setting up of common scholarship cell.”

The Union stated that it will be “compelled to confront the government if it fails to pay serious ears to the hue and cry of the students’ community.”
