2nd round of Mission Indradhanush from today

Kohima, November 6 (MExN): The second round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush, 2017 will be held from November 7 to 14.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS) has requested the concerned ward and village council chairpersons to inform their respective Urban Health Committees and Village Health Committees to assist the visiting team. The DC further requested the Urban Health Committees and Village Health Committees to get the due lists of children and pregnant women (who are due for immunization) from the concerned PHC or Sub-Centre, and coordinate with the officials. He also asked them to create awareness and spread information to the concerned families, parents, mothers etc. to increase the immunization coverage.

In a separate press release, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dimapur, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi has requested all the parents to bring their children to immunization sites in their respective colonies/villages and immunize them to prevent vaccine preventable diseases. He mentioned that the MOHFW, Government of India launched ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush’ as a special drive to vaccinate all unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children under universal immunization programme. Recent evaluation has indicated that the major reason for inability to vaccinate all the children in the country is lack of awareness among parents about the benefits of immunization, he added.
