30th TSUD fresher’s meet

Dr. Darlando Khathing, Vice Chancellor, NECU,   Morung Express News Dimapur | September 2   Tangkhul Students’ Union Dimapur (TSUD) celebrated its 30th fresher’s meet at the Bundrock Auditorium, Patkai Christian College on Saturday with Dr. Darlando Khathing, Vice Chancellor, North East Christian University (NECU), as the chief guest.   Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Khathing raised the employment issue surrounding the region and viewed that that many people are unemployable because of the lack of skills. He argued that white collar jobs are not the only option for employment and encouraged the students to take up courses which can help develop skills.   Advising the proper use of time as students, Dr. Khathing urged, “Focus on whatever you do.” “Be honest to yourself and to your work.”   Earlier in the welcome speech, TSUD President Shonreising Kapai briefed on the history of the union. He narrated about the ups and downs which the union faced and thanked the elders for their help and support through it all. Somilan Raikhan, a Class 11 (Commerce) student of Tetso College gave a speech on behalf of the freshers and TSUD General Secretary Reishangnim Phungshok later presented the secretarial report.   The union also held elections for the tenure 2017-19 and the new team of office bearers will be led by RVS Pamngayi as President and Kanringla Raingam as General Secretary.
