390 recruit sworn in to Nagaland police

•  CM calls to remain alert to maintain peace    • Announces sanction of 15% extra allowance of basic pay for trainers

Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio lauded the Nagaland Police Training Centre (NPTS), Chümoukedima for doing a commendable job in imparting basic training to the DEF personnel, jail wardens, mahila recruits, sub-inspectors and other officers from NPS and IPS probationers.

He was speaking at the passing out parade of the 65th Batch of Basic Training for 390 recruit Constables at Chümoukedima on February 16.

Rio said that, during the nine months training, the recruits had undergone physical training endurance, drill with and without arms, battle craft, field craft and tactics as well as indoor subjects of law and most importantly human rights and ethical values. 

The CM, however, said that completion of training was only a beginning and ahead lay years of service to the people and expressed confidence that they would perform with traditional flair and selfless devotion to duty of the Nagaland Police.

He urged upon the passing out recruits to keep in mind the Nagaland Police motto of “Security, Service and Sacrifice” adding that following the motto they could contribute to Naga society by maintaining law and order and providing safety and security to all the citizens of Nagaland.

Rio was also of the view that skills and expertise of the police personnel needed to be upgraded to meet the challenges of modern times when the nature of crime is also changing with economic offenses and cybercrime. He also expressed delight in learning that 38 Mahila recruits in the batch were passing out. 

Rio called upon the police officers and personnel to remain alert to maintain peace in the land. “Nagaland police is highly regarded as a very disciplined and well turned out force. As a police person, one must remember that he stands out only because of his disciplined life style and well turned out uniform,” he said.

On the occasion, the CM also announced sanction of 15% extra allowance of basic pay and as instructors allowance to all the sanctioned staff posted in the training centres. He told the DGP and all senior officers that training courses must be equal to or better than the training centres in other states. 

Rio urged upon all officers and jawaans to improve on all aspects of training assuring them that the PDA  government would always be supportive and ensure the welfare of the jawaans.

The 390 recruits included: DEF – 314, PHQ – 7, INT – 33, NPTO – 21, Mahilla – 12, NPRH – 1 and NPCS – 2.

The CM also gave away awards to the awardees of the 65th Batch Recruit Constables.

1.      Best in turn-out- Melong, DEF, Tuensang
2.      Best in physical training -Nipavi Achumi, DEF, Zunheboto
3.      Best in drill -Sedo Medeo, DEF Kohima
4.      Best in weapon handling, Seisanglen Haolai, DEF Mon
5.      Best in firing- Zacharia P.Rosu, DEF Kohima
6.      Best in legal studies- Phaphal Thomson, INT Kohima
7.      Best in police science-Phaphal Thomson, INT Kohima
8.      Exemplary conduct- Langkhio, DEF Mon
9.      All round best- Melong, DEF Tuensang
