4 arrested over killing of minor, JAC demands ex gratia

Imphal, May 19 (NNN): Bishnupur police Thursday arrested six persons suspected to be involved in the killing of a minor. While an older man and minor suspects have been released after interrogation, four suspects have been remanded to six days police custody.  
Three-and-half-year old Thiyam Robiroy aka Tom, s/o Th Rocky of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Ward No. 4 under Bishnupur police was found hanged to his dead Wednesday inside a room meant for Maibi (traditional healer) in suspicious circumstances with his hands and legs tied and his neck bearing a mark suggestive of strangulation.
The police report Thursday said that all the suspects arrested were from the village of the victim and they are under investigation. The father of victim, Rocky, who is in the Indian Army, went in the morning to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where the body of Robiroy has been kept for post mortem since Wednesday following his death in suspicious circumstances.
In the meanwhile, a JAC has been constituted who has been demanding justice for Robiroy. The JAC has condemned the gruesome and inhuman act of murder of the minor besides pressurizing the state government to promptly book the culprit. It has also demanded an ex gratia amount of five lakh through a memorandum which has been submitted to the chief minister of Manipur.
