4th edition of Thuwuni Festival culminates

Pughoboto, November 17 (MExN): The last day of the 4th edition of the Thuwuni Festival was celebrated with Joint Secretary, Government of Nagaland, Sara Jamir as the special guest.

 

According to a DIPR report, Sara said ‘Thuwuni Pughoboto’ has been recognised by world map and urged the Aphuyemi to use their talent and skills, keeping in mind the meaning of Thuwuni, to progress. Further she highlighted on the importance of organic food found in the region.

 

Some Indigenous and Traditional games that were displayed at the local ground, Pughoboto on the last day included Bamboo stilt Race, Greased Bamboo Pole, Top Spin, and Fats Eating Competition.

 

In Fats eating competition, all the winners were from Mishilimi village: Kughavi, Khavito and Shihovi were the first, second and third prize winners respectively.

 

In Greased Bamboo Pole, Vitohe & party from Ighanumi village received the 1st Prize, 2nd place went to Kaghavi & party from Mishilimi village and 3rd place went to Kanito & party from Heboli village.

 

Out of the 24 villages under Pughoboto sub division, five villages participated in the Basket making during the celebration. In the basket making competition Honito from Mukalimi village and Yeheto from Kitami village were adjudged the 1st and 2nd place respectively.

 

MLA Y. Vikheho Swu; ADC Pughoboto, Phuleshe K Yepthomi; Officers and others also entertained the audience by participating in the fat eating competition. Cash award to the winners were sponsored by some officers and Individuals.
