Peren, August 10 (MExN): The 36 Assam Rifles along with police representative launched an operation in Athibung under Peren District on August 9 and apprehended five GPRN/NSCN cadres.
One 9 mm Pistol with magazine, two 7.65 mm Pistol with magazine, 41 live rounds of assorted ammunition, one notepad and eight extortion notes belonging to the GPRN/NSCN was also recovered from their possession, a defence press release informed.
The apprehended individuals were identified as Cpl Sitang Zeliang (32 years), Raja peyu Ramriwi Zeliang (35), Sgt (Discharged) Nzuakan Zeliang (32), Cpl Anthony Zeliang (30), and Pvt Babu Zeliang, (22). The five along with the recovered items were handed over to Jalukie Police Station for further investigation.
