PAC appeals for support & cooperation

 

Dimapur, December 9 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur comprising of 19 tribe hohos and NGOs has imposed a bandh today, December 10. The motive of the bandh is to “contain the multiple taxation, syndicate system, extortion, abductions in Dimapur, the latest incident where a showroom (Riven Honda) run by a Naga lady entrepreneur was fired at on November 20 whereas the culprits are yet to be apprehended and remain at large,” stated a press release from Press and Media Cell of the PAC.

 

The PAC has appealed to the citizens of Dimapur to “extend support and cooperation and maintain peace and tranquility during the bandh period.”

 

Those exempted from the bandh include Paramilitary, police and district administration, students appearing exams, medical treatment duty, wedding participant with cards and stickers, funerals, tourist /travelers traveling outside by train /air with valid tickets, power dept personnel with ID cards, press and media.
Volunteers have been directed to strictly comply as per the instructions to avoid untoward incidents.

 

Travel Advisory

In order to ensure seamless transit of travellers to and from Dimapur on December 10, the Nagaland Tourist Police will be organizing teams of police escorts as follows:

1. From Chümoukedima Police Check Gate to Dimapur Airport: 1100 hrs and 1200 hrs
2. From New Field Check Gate to Dimapur Airport: 1100 hrs and 1200 hrs
3. From Dillai Gate to Dimapur Airport: 1100 hrs and 1200 hrs
4. From Dimapur Airport to Chümoukedima Police Check Gate: 1245 hrs and 1330 hrs (30 minutes after landing of the Indigo and Air India flights)
5. From Dimapur Airport to New Field Check Gate: 1245 hrs and 1330 hrs (30 minutes after landing of the Indigo and Air India flights)
6. From Dimapur Airport to Dillai Gate: 1245 hrs and 1330 hrs (30 minutes after landing of the Indigo and Air India flights)
7. From Chümoukedima Police Check Gate to Dimapur Railway Station: Every two hours starting at 0500 hrs
8. From New Field Check Gate to Dimapur Railway Station: Every two hours starting at 0500 hrs
9. From Dillai Gate to Dimapur Railway Station: Every two hours starting at 0500 hrs
10. From Dimapur Railway Station to Chümoukedima Police Check Gate: Every two hours starting at 0630 hrs
11. From Dimapur Railway Station to New Field Check Gate: Every two hours starting at 0630 hrs
12. From Dimapur Railway Station to Dillai Gate: Every two hours starting at 0630 hrs
13. From Tragopan Point to New Field Check Gate: 0530 hrs
14. From Tragopan Point to Dillai Gate: 0530 hrs
15. From Tragopan Point to Chümoukedima Check Gate: 0530 hrs

All travellers have been requested to join the escorted convoy as per the timings indicated. Tourist Police personnel will be available in all the specified locations given above to facilitate the travellers.
Buses from Kohima: Nagaland Police will also provide 4 buses to ply from Kohima to Dimapur. Travellers, both local and tourists can avail the facility on production of travel tickets.
The buses will be stationed at NST, Kohima and will depart at 7:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm respectively. Tourist Police personnel will be available in all the specified locations given above to facilitate the travellers.
