Organizations demand exemplary punishment to accused
DIMAPUR, JULY 14 (MExN):In a belated report received here, a minor girl was allegedly raped by an NSCN (IM) cadre in the rank of Leacy under UT- 1 at his residence at Thilixu Village, Dimapur.
The victim, aged 7 years was studying in class IV. According to reports, the accused, who is a neighbor of the minor, sent the victim’s brother to the shop on the pretext of buying things and committed the brutal act. The accused then threatened to kill the girl and her family if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
Fearing for her life, the traumatized child did not disclose the incident for two weeks. Her parents came to know of the beastly act only after the victim’s condition became serious as a result of injury caused by the accused.
Consequently, an FIR was filed at Women Cell, Dimapur. The accused was arrested by Police on July 13, 2016. Medical report on the alleged rape is being awaited, sources said. Meanwhile, Aghunato Area Union Dimapur (AAUD) and T (Tizu) Island Union Dimapur (TIUD) have condemned the ghastly rape of a seven-year-old minor by a Leacy under UT 1, NSCN (IM). In separate condemnation note, the two organizations said such act should be condemned by all right thinking citizens. They also urged the concerned authorities and the law-enforcing agency to award befitting and exemplary punishment to avert such horrendous crime in the society.
