Kohima Hornbills and Valour CC in semi-finals

  Kohima, March 31 (MExN): Kohima Hornbills and Valour Cricket Club have entered the semi-finals of the 9th Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organized by the Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church Kohima at the Jakhama Local Ground.   Playing the third quarter-finals match today, Kohima Hornbills defeated Woodland Cricket Club by 6 wickets. Winning the toss Woodland elected to bat but was bundled out for a paltry 88 runs in 16.5 overs.   Meren was the only double digit scorer with 19 runs, while Hornbills bowler Dieto claimed three wickets. He was supported well by Moa and Tali, who claimed two wickets apiece.   Hornbills made the run-chase looking easy claiming a 6-wicket win. Heiketo top-scored, smashing a scintillating 47. Moa, who made a steady 21, gave him company at the crease. Heiketo was adjudged the Man of the Match. Woodland bowler Sepichem took two wickets.   Valour CC snatched a nail-biting one run win over Bokajan CC in other match to conclude the quarter-finals.   Valour won the toss and elected to bat putting onboard 84 in 20 over and losing 9 wickets. Bashir top-scored with 15 runs. Bokajan’s Babu Deka claimed 3, while Siddharth Choubey and Siddharth Bey took two each.   Set a seemingly gettable target of 85, the Bokajan batting line-up faltered. They lost their final wicket in the penultimate ball of the match, the score reading 83 and one short of a tie.   Amit managed 14 runs with the bat, which happened to be the second highest score of the match.   Valour’s Anil Sharma took three wickets, while Bashir and Bittu claimed two each.
