The Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) will be organizing a transformation crusade that is duped to be the “greatest revival ever in the 145 years history of Christianity among the Ao Nagas.” The transformation crusade, Ao Kin Asentenshi, is to be held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung town on November 1 to 3 under the theme “Lord Revive Us” based on Psalm 85:6 where each and every Ao Senso, or Ao citizen, is invited. Every Ao Senso irrespective of social status, denomination or place of residence is invited to this revival to “submit to God in humility, confess all sins and seek forgiveness.”

The organizing committee of the crusade while interacting with local media persons here today at MTBA said that there will be no special invitees or seat reservations nor reception tables as every Ao Senso is invited as equals. Every Ao village Putu Menden and church irrespective of denominations have been invited to this great revival. All the speakers in the revival are from the Ao community who will be speaking on topics of transformation in the individual selves, church, society, family and government (yimten).

Pastor of MTBA and convener of the organizing committee, Rev.Ponen Longchar said that the decision to organize this revival was made at the ABAM Central Council meeting last year. Along with the seats in the galleries at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, a conference hall with sitting capacity of 10,000 will be constructed to accommodate the attendees, he said. The crusade will also be telecast live via local caple TV operators, he said, adding that preparations are also being done to livestream the crusade through internet for Aos scattered worldwide. ABAM Executive Secretary Mar Atsongchanger added that every Ao frontal organizations have also been intimitated as this crusade is not just for the “Ao Church” but for the “Ao Senso” and appealed to pray for “Ao transformation through this crusade.” Programme Committee convener Rev.Lima supplemented that there have been suggestions and prayers from various quarters for this crusade for Ao transformation. Seeing the spiritual thirst, this crusade has been organized where every Ao Senso can “pray and submit to God in humility seeking His forgiveness for all sins and broken promises.” Apart from the scheduled programme, there will be prayer sessions on the second and third day of the crusade from 8:00 to 10:00 am. He also hoped that “a new chapter in the story of the Aos” would be scripted.

ABAM president Rev.Noklen said that the Aos were like the Biblical prodigal son today and that the “son” is now realizing that “none but God alone” can redeem them. He also hoped to restore “Nagaland for Christ” through this crusade. Saying that this crusade is by the grace of God, he called upon every Ao Senso to “confess our sins and admit our shortcomings.”

Apart from the expenses to be borne by the local churches and individuals who will be attending the crusade, ABAM has earmarked Rs.40 lakhs for the event. Preparatory works for the revival at Imkongmeren Sports Complex will begin from October 23. This particular revival is believed to be a “turning point” in Ao and Naga history by the organizers. Ever since Christianity came to Naga soil in 1872, no revival of this scale has been organized ever before.
