Kohima | January 21 : Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC), Youth Convention underway this afternoon at Indira Gandhi Stadium, hosted by Kohima Baptist Khriesarüü Krotho (Kohima Baptist youth department) under the theme “Come, Follow Me, (Mark 1:17)”, that will go on till January 23.
Several thousands of youths from 105 Angami churches across Nagaland are taking part the three days programme. Marking the commencement of the celebration as speaker, Angami Baptist Church council (ABCC) executive director Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu, shared on the theme and said the theme signifies an eternal call from God and urged the congregation to dedicate and follow him. “We are been called from different profession be it politicians, business man, ambitious or greedy, whatever we may be God want us to be faithful and sincere while following him”, said Rev. Linyü. Asserting discipleship journey as adventurous for a lifetime, Rev. Linyü maintained that following the ‘Cross’ differs from the adventure of worldly life, though it may not be easy, however, he called upon the youths to understand the reason to follow him.He also challenged the congregations to be dedicated and sincere following any circumstances or hardship in order to be a disciple of the Lord.
The opening day of the convention was marked by songs from various groups while the theme song was presented by Neise Meruno and friends. Earlier Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu unfurled the convention flag followed by dedication of the convention hall. Speaker of the three days programme includes President, Baptist World Alliance Youth, Denise de Vasconcelos Araujo, Administrator, G.Rio School Kohima, Pastor UBC, Rev. Dr.Rachülie Vihienuo and Youth Director, ABCC, Vicavor Krpse. The highlights of the convention also include musical night, Seminar on Birth right and workshop on various topics.
President ABCC, Dr. Hovithal Sothu, in an interaction with media persons said, in earlier times the convention has been organized annually, however with technical reason, ABCC has decided to conduct once in five years and this convention is believed to the second convention thereafter.
