'Acknowledge positive contributions of others'

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 15 (MExN): Naga National Council (NNC) has questioned the integrity of the process that produced the “unconditional unity” agreement “reportedly reached between NSCN(K)/Unification, NNC/FGN and NNC” which appeared in the
media.
“(The) Regional Council Presidents of NNC consider it to be our responsibility to clarify that there was no prior deliberation of the matter by the Central Executive Council of NNC,” a joint statement of the Ao, Angami and Lotha regional council informed.
The statement signed by Chumbemo Khenchung, president Lotha Regional Council, Chosel Angami. President, Angami Regional Council and I Teka Soyah, president, Ao Regional Council of the NNC said they are “compelled to question the integrity of the process that produced the agreement.”
However, the statement also offered space for a common ground when they acknowledged that “we (NNC) have no doubt that deep in their hearts all Nagas respect and love the NNC that launched their struggle.”
“We are also painfully aware that because of wrongs and mistakes we have done to one another, the Naga national Council has become fragmented and too weakened for the task for which it was created,” it added.
They said Nagas are engaged in a complicated process of restoring their unity and the health of their historic struggle for their aspiration.
It appealed to all Nagas to do all that they could to inspire one another to restore mutual trust, goodwill and cooperation among all Nagas.
“We will do this by our readiness (to) acknowledge our wrong and failures and to appreciate the positive contributions others too have made. This is the need of (the) hour,” it read.
