Agri Department bids farewell to Helie Rupre-o

Kohima, March 8 (MExN): The Department of Agriculture bade farewell to its retired Director, Helie Rupre-o on March 6. The farewell programme held at the Directorate Conference Hall was organized in honour of Rupre-o who was retiring after serving the department for 35 years.  

Chairing the programme, Director G. Ikuto Zhimomi lauded Rupre-o for his valuable contribution at various levels during his service career in the Department.  

N. Henry Zeliang, Jt. Director, read out the service profile of the retired Director, while L. Butang Khiamniungan, Jt. Director, delivered farewell speech on behalf of the Department. Speech on behalf of outpost establishments was delivered by B.N. Phom, District Agriculture officer, Mon.  

T. Imkonglemba, IAS, Principal Secretary and APC Government of Nagaland, in a short speech recalled the retired director as a strict man with well disciplined nature who insisted on co-operation and team work among the officers and staff of the Department.  

The APC also viewed that the retired Director possessed practical experience which was very much suited to the local condition and as such, urged him to continue to work as a consultant and join hands with the department in serving the farming community.  

Speaking on the occasion, Rupre-o termed his 35 years in the Department as a “big achievement”. “It was only made possible by the Grace of God to occupy the top most position in the Department with good health and sound mind,” he said. He also thanked the Department of Agriculture for supporting him during his study period (scholarship and book grant) and further extended thanks to all rank and file of the department.  

The programme was attended by officers from District Sub-division staff, well wishers and family members.
