NDPP candidate for 25 Mongoya Assembly Constituency, Alemtemshi Jamir today formally declared his candidature and wooed the voters with promises of good governance, youth employment and gender equity at Chuchuyimpang village in Mokokchung.

The former Chief Secretary and NDPP working president, Alemtemshi, while asserting that the NDPP-BJP alliance will definitely form the next government, said that the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) has great visions to bring a change in the Naga society through its party manifestoes and agendas.

He reiterated the party’s stance that NDPP was born because the Naga people wanted a change and because of the misrule of the present NPF-led government. Alemtemshi narrated how the DAN government in the previous years had sittings of ‘fifteen minutes’ in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and how the elected representatives camped at ‘Kaziranga’ and ‘Sovima’.

In this connection, he said the NDPP was formed as a strong party with a vision and direction, with promise to give good governance, good government for a better Nagaland.

While listing out a slew of changes ‘after the NDPP’ forms the government after March 3, the candidate said the NDPP-BJP alliance government will ensure government that is “transparent, accountable and ensure the rule of law.”

He also highlighted the main focus points on agriculture – development of land resources through implementation of modern machineries, improving agriculture on a commercial scale by adopting a post-harvest policy where the issue of storage, transportation and marketing of agricultural products are tackled in a systematic manner.

Alemtemshi also focused on the estimated 13,000 educated youths coming out from the different education institutions on a yearly basis – their employment, their suitability and their future. He therefore laid special emphasis on industrialization through the modernization of agriculture which he correlated with the development of land and its resources.

On gender parity, he said the NDPP party strongly focuses on women empowerment and ensure gender equity. In this regard, he said the NDPP has given a party ticket to a female candidate, N Awan Konyak from 47 Aboi A/C. Alemtemshi expressed his strong belief that the female NDPP candidate will be the first Naga woman MLA in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

The NDPP candidate therefore urged the electorates to choose NDPP “to be a part of the change’ and be a party to the change.

The forthcoming election under 25 Mongoya A/C will be pitted among Dr Ngangshi K Ao (former Minister and NPF candidate), Alemtemshi Jamir (NDPP), and S Suprongmeren Jamir (NPP).
