The organisers of electronic dance music (EDM) festival Vh1 Supersonic 2017 will be adding a hip hop twist to the fest with the addition of Grammy Award winning hip hop artiste Macklemore to the line-up. Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, was announced as the second headliner of the fourth edition of the fest via a statement on Monday. Macklemore is excited to play in India for the first time.
With this announcement, Vh1 Supersonic has introduced the hip hop genre for the first time into its line-up. “India is one of my favourite places in the world. Extremely excited to be playing this festival,” Macklemore said in a statement.
LIVE Viacom18’s live property will be held in Pune this time instead of Goa. The three-day festival is set from February 10. Legendary Swedish DJ Eric Prydz will also be making his first appearance in India by headlining Vh1 Supersonic 2017. Macklemore is known for writing lyrics of his songs on themes close to his heart or on meaningful social causes.
