ANCSU hunger strike from June 4

KOHIMA, JUNE 3 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) today informed that it will undertake an indefinite hunger strike from June 4 onwards if its demands on issues related to students in the state are not fulfilled.

In a letter to the Nagaland State Chief Minister, Nephiu Rio, ANCSU President, Katho P Awomi and General Secretary, Vimeyiekho Vitso reiterated its demand for the immediate resignation of the Director of Technical Education, Nagaland. It also demanded action against those officials involved in the “misappropriation of State Technical Scholarship funds amounting to Rs 1.32 crore.”

Other demands of the ANCSU include immediate action on Nodal Cell to implement all kinds of scholarship schemes; immediate settlement of Kohima Science College land issue and all other such issues in government colleges/institutes; issuance of 110 Assistant Professor sanctioned posts through NPSC under the Department of Higher Education; and investigation into scholarship schemes implemented in Nagaland funded by both state and centre.
