Kohima, February 17 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) on Monday voiced out in support of the Department of School Education’s crackdown on “the menace and practice of keeping bogus proxy teachers.”
“The association finds it reprehensible that the teachers would indulge in such ignominious practices given our vital role in nation building,” an ANSTA press release stated.
Concerned that the activities of a few teachers would reflect badly on the broader teaching community, it appealed the teachers to rededicate themselves and keep away from illicit activities that degrade the teaching profession.
The association also requested stakeholders, particularly the school management committees not to entertain or involve in any practices that would hamper the education of the children and exercise their powers with sincerity.
Further, it called upon all the right-thinking citizens to support and encourage the department in its quest to do away with proxy teachers. “The association extends its support and appeals the department to give befitting punishment to all who fail to comply with the direction of the department,” the release stated.
