ANSTA supports revamping of school education dept

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers Association (ANSTA) today extended its support to the present move of the Nagaland State Government towards revamping the Department of School Education.

A press note from the association stated that exercise on redeployment of attached teachers to their respective places of posting, checking menace of practicing proxy teachers and appointment of shortage math & science teachers as initiated by the present Minister of School Education, Tokheho Yepthomi are some of old demands of the association and are indeed a positive step towards revamping and streamlining of the problem riddled Department of School Education.

The association disclosed that the same exercise had been carried out in the past also but could not materialize due to interference of higher ups, bureaucrats, legislators etc. It expressed apprehension that the same futile exercise may be repeated this time too. As such, the ANSTA urged upon the Minister to be firm on the decision in executing the proposed policy of the Nagaland State Government for smooth functioning of the department.

The association further made its stand clear that the ANSTA is not against for any individual teacher(s) but for total revamping and streamlining of the department. It has directed all its units /sub-units officials to extend all possible help and cooperation to the field officers be it DEO /SDEO/HM/AHM etc of the respective jurisdictions for effective implementation of the proposed government policy.

Meanwhile, the ANSTA also informed the department authority that while appointing Math and Science teachers, the existing rules on reservation of vacancies for ST in Nagaland should be taken into account by reserving 80% of the vacancies which are to be filled up by direct recruitment for the ST of the State of Nagaland.

“In the event of non availability of local eligible candidate for the post at the moment, a qualified non-Naga may be allowed for appointment to the posts on the contractual basis as per existing norms of the recruitment,” it added.
