ANSTA urges on better work culture

Kohima, February 10 (MExN): The All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association expressed its displeasure over those earring government teachers, drawing salaries without performing duties stating that many teachers are simply drawing salary without doing their assigned task properly, as it is a matter of fact that corruption is the talk of every walk of life in society and if a teacher is drawing his/her monthly salary without going school, the money he brought home and feed his family itself is not clean money, but it is corrupted money. The association reminded that the teachers are supposed to teach social values and value system to younger generation and under no circumstances should practice bribery, nepotism and corruption.
A press note issued by its president Ponchulo Wanth and general secretary, L. Asang stated that the government established/run schools follows an open admission system without conducting screening test for admission where the students of government schools are mostly from poor and rural background. Asserting that since there is no entrance exam for admission and students are mostly from poor rural stock whose parents are mostly illiterate, it becomes an up-hill task and big challenge for teachers to train them up at par with others.
Inspite of poor and weak students at hand, many teachers of Govt. schools works with sincerity and devotion playing a dual role as a teacher and a teacher parent of the students as result of which good number of students of Govt. schools are passing out their HSLC exam every year, stated the press release.
Keeping in mind the good service of those teachers who are working tirelessly for the cause of poor students, the association hopes that they will continue to serve the weaker section of students with same spirit of sincerity and dedication so that they are worthy to be emulated by the other teachers.
The association also disclosed that the quality of students (materials) receives is very raw and to transform them into a useful finished product requires/needs a lot of hard work and dedication of the teachers. It therefore urge all its members to be more dutiful in one chosen profession and cultivate habit of work culture as they are to shape and mould the destiny of future generation as correctly pointed out by NPE ’64-’66.
“The destiny of India is now being shaped in her classroom”, adding that as the association step into a new academic session, appeals all its bonafide members to be more sincere and honest in their duties and dealings as our main subject is concerned with Human Resource Development where “Education”- the most powerful instrument for social transformation and National Development is the core issue.
