An awareness programme on tobacco was held at Dimapur Government College auditorium on August 20.
In his presentation, Dr C Tetseo from National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) stated that youths were the target of tobacco industry and “many have fallen prey to their malicious and glamorised campaign.”
He exhorted that students should have a sound knowledge about dangerous substances like drugs, alcohol and tobacco and “should never allow the risky behaviours to mess up with their potential in this competitive age,” stated a press release.
He emphasised upon the importance of strengthening tobacco free environment in the campus, it added.
Later, Dr Tetseo also had an interaction with the faculties of the college and discussed issues relating to the enforcement of tobacco control laws around the educational institutions.
