Kohima, March 23 (MExN): An enforcement drive at shops selling tobacco products inside Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) campus was carried out on March 22 with Anti-tobacco Squad which includes AMK, KMC, Police personnel and officials from District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Kohima.
It was stated in a DIPR report that during the drive, sixteen shop owners were penalised as they have violated the prohibition orders of the sale of Tobacco products within the hospital campus. The NHAK was declared Tobacco Free Hospital on 27th September 2018, where the shop owners were made aware of the prohibition order during the inspection drive by the concerned officials last year.
The seized products of both smokeless and smoking form of tobacco were destroyed in presence of Managing Director NHAK, Dr. Thorhusie Katiry within the NHAK campus on the same day.
The enforcement drive was carried out as per the decision taken during the District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting of DTCC under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Chairman DLCC, Kohima, Anoop Khinchi, which was notified on March 11.
