APC visit NABARD’s funded projects

Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): The Principal Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner, Government of Nagaland H.K. Khulu IAS, along with Secretary, APC Cell, GoN, Benjamin Newmai and other officers of Agriculture Department visited Wadi (horticulture) based integrated development project for small, marginal and landless farmers in Peren District on February 2.
Dr. U. S. Saha, General Manager/Officers-in- Charge, NABARD Nagaland Regional Office in a press note said that Khulu also addressed the village councils, farmers and SHG members and expressed his satisfaction on the progress of such innovative approach of development. He appreciated NABARD for helping poor and landless farmers by bringing experiences of various part of the country in Nagaland for state development. The pilot project on System of Rice Intensification (SRI) introduced in two districts had provided farmers more yield by 4 quintal per acre which have tremendous impact in attaining food self sufficiency and food security. He urged all the farmers and SHG/Farmers Club and Joint Liability Groups (JLGs) to work hard for their prosperity and improving Gross State Domestic Products as well. 
Khulu lauds innovative approach of development
Dr. U. S. Saha and G. Thangchinkhup, Manager accompanied the Government team and explained the objectives and operational details during the visit. RBAN, Jalukie is implementing the project. The Wadi project area covers 500 families under plantation of horticulture crops (such as pineapple, banana, and orange). In addition, Soil Conservation, water resources management, intercropping with field and fruit crops, forestry, etc are also part of the Wadi project.
The visiting team had also seen the progress of one Rural Road Project sanctioned by NABARD under RIDF for implementation by Agriculture Department of the Government of Nagaland and New Jalukie Rural Marketing Sheds developed under Rural Haat Scheme of NABARD within the project area of Wadi. Dr. U. S. Saha GM, NABARD and B. K. Thadani, MD, NSCB also addressed the gathering. Thadani also promised to render all help and support from the NSCB and urged the farmers/SHGs for timely repayment.
