Appeal for pollution-free Diwali

Governor urges to light lamps of compassion, love, and righteousness

Kohima, October 18 (MExN): On the occasion of Diwali, the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya and his wife, Kavita Acharya have extended greetings and wished joyous and prosperous life to the people of the State.  

In his message, the Governor said that Diwali, the festival of lights, inspires all to move towards light from darkness. “Let us light the lamps of compassion, love and righteousness. Let us resolve to fight against illiteracy, inequality, poverty, discrimination and malice, and let us promote universal peace and brotherhood in the society,” he stated.  

The Governor also called on all to build a New India, which is prosperous, strong and free of communalism, casteism and terrorism under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Be proud that we are Indians, Acharya urged.  

The Governor also appealed for a pollution-free Diwali celebration.  

Chief Minister: Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang on behalf of the Government of Nagaland also extended warm greetings and good wishes to all on the auspicious occasion of Diwali. The CM wished that the festival of lights may be an occasion for all to show love and mutual respect to one another. “May this day bring peace, joy and prosperity to every home and society in the State,” he stated in a message. On this day, let us also keep in mind our responsibility as good citizens to protect the environment from all types of pollutions, Zeliang added.  

BJP Minority: In a separate message, the BJP Minority Morcha, Nagaland State extended warm Diwali greetings to “all the Hindu brothers & sisters”. Yopise Sangtam, general secretary, BJP Minority Morcha in the message noted that Diwali signifies the triumph of righteous and victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance. “May the lighting of lamps this year dispel darkness of ignorance and suffering and illumine our lives with hope and prosperity,” the Morcha wished. It also requested to celebrate safe and pollution-free Diwali.  

NPCC: Meanwhile, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president, K. Therie hoped that the lights of Deepawali may be a reminder of the importance of knowing and seeking the good and the right path. “May it also dispel the evil and darkness confronting the people and usher in compassion towards one another. This Deepawali, let there be showers of Peace, Freedom and Happiness,” Therie stated in a message. “All rank and file of NPCC join me in wishing a safe and very Happy Deepawali,” he added.
