Kohima, July 18 (DIPR): In pursuance of sections 5 & 19 of the Right to Information Act, 2005 (Central Act No. 22 of 2005) read with other relevant provisions thereof, all the Departments has appointed/nominated Appellate Authorities, PIOs and APIOs.
However, it has been observed that consequent upon the transfer of officers appointed as Appellate Authorities, PIOs and APIOs, that quite often, no fresh orders appointing their relievers as AAs/PIOs/APIOs are not being issued. This has resulted in applicants not being in a position to apply for information under RTI Act.
In this connection, all the Departments are requested to update the appointment orders of PIOs/APIOs/First Appellate Authority on transfers and also furnish a copy of every such order to the State Chief Information Commissioner, Nagaland for record and reference. The Departments may also assess the work-load due to RTI applications, and suitably strengthen the administrative structure for disposing RTI matters, by deploying additional staff and constitute RTI Cells if required, from amongst the existing staff.
This was informed in an Office Memorandum issued by the State Chief Secretary, Lalthara on July 11.
