In a major feat, Kevilebo Zhotso has become the first cyclist from Nagaland to get signed up as a professional sponsored rider. The young gun has been signed up by Walk To Himalayas Adventures Pvt Ltd as a sponsored rider.
Hardworking, focused and committed, Kevilebo knew that depending on Nagaland Government will never make his dreams come true as an athlete so he moved out of the state.
He started working in a cycling store, helped build tracks and organize races in Meghalaya, made new friends, networked with the right people, proved himself in competitions and finally got his big break, words shared by the Nagaland cycling community said.
During a visit to Meghalaya the WTH Team met Kevilebo through one Gregory from Shillong as they were conducting a race for MTB (Mountain Bike) Meghalaya. Kevilebo is a part of the team which conducted the race. Seeing him ride and the kind of skill set he exhibited, they offered him to come on board with their team.
Walk to Himalayas has been organizing MTB races in Northern part of India under their banner “WTH Biking Challenge” and have an existing team of riders who participated in events in India and Abroad.
Kevilebo will be a part of the team and would be participating in XC, Enduro and Downhill races for the team. The young Naga will also be sponsored by Steadfast Nutrition which is a premium sports supplement brand for sports supplement during races.
Next, Team Nagaland comprising of Kevilebo, Meguo Benny Metha, Seyieo Sekhose and Imo Jamir will be competing in Assam Downhill Mountain Bike Race this September with no support from the government but with their own efforts.
