Dimapur, April 22 (MExN): Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended three NSCN (R) cadres from a hotel in Eros Lane, Dimapur on April 21. The three were apprehended in possession of illegal arms and ammunition, alleged a press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (North). The cadres have been identified as Lt Col Phumthyan Puimi, Leacy Abi Kinny, Leacy Kinito Kinnimi.
The recoveries from the individuals included one .22 pistol with magazine, six live rounds, 15 SP tablets, extortion booklets of shop tax, booklet of shop tax receipt, booklet of vehicle tax receipt and Indian currency Rs. 15,240/- in cash, the release stated. The apprehended along with the recoveries were handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation, it added.
In another incident, Kiphire battalion of Assam Rifles recovered 1660 cans of Burmese beer at a Mobile Vehicle Check Post established near Akhegwo in Meluri sub-division on April 21. The check post had been established based on receipt of specific information about movement of illegal drugs/ liquor in the area, according to a separate press release from HQ IGAR (North).
In this connection, Rasangthu (45) and K Mangingson (35) who were transporting the liquor were apprehended. The cost of the liquor was estimated at around Rs 2.6 lakhs in Indian currency. The two along with the recovered items were handed over to Meluri Police Station for further investigation, the release said.
