AR battalions immunize children in Nagaland

Kohima, March 11 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted pulse polio vaccination drives in various locations across the state of Nagaland on the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) day on March 11.  

“Assam Rifles battalions set up various medical camps and kiosks at its own hospital locations and civil areas to further the cause of pulse polio mission,” stated a press release from HQ IGAR (North).  

A total of 3346 children – 2379 civilians and 967 Assam Rifles dependents – were given polio drops during the drives, according to the release.  

Kohima: Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles carried out the phase II of IPPI and educated parents about the importance of periodic administration of oral pulse polio to children up to the age of five years. The battalion established pulse polio booths in Jotsoma village, Ministers’ Hill, IG Stadium, and the Kohima Garrison near the D block for the local people, the release said.  

Zunheboto: In Zunheboto district, Assam Rifles battalion organized a pulse polio camp for children of ‘Khowaboto’ village and surrounding areas, the press release informed. The camp was conducted by the medical team of Zunheboto battalion led by Deputy Commandant Ngukato Kiho, Senior Medical Officer and paramedical staff.  

Kiphire: Kiphire battalion organized a pulse polio immunization camp in Phelungre village, Assam Rifles further informed. A team of doctor, pharmacist and Nursing Assistant of the unit organized the pulse polio immunization for the citizens of the village and adjoining areas, it added.  

Dimapur: Dimapur battalion of AR organized pulse polio immunization at unit hospital, Kashiram Basti under 2IC Sanjay Kumar, CMO at Lungiram Gate, Full Nagarjan under Maj Ankit Gupta, it was informed.  

Medziphema & Jalukie: Jalukie battalion organized a similar pulse polio immunization programme at Athibung, Peren and Tenning village, while Ghaspani battalion also established camp at Medziphema, according to HQ IGAR (N).
