AR celebrate National Unity Day

Kohima, November 1 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) with various activities such as ‘Run for Unity’, lectures, and pledge ceremonies in various locations of Nagaland on October 31. National Unity Day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.  

Kohima: The 3 (NH) Battalion of Assam Rifles celebrated the day keeping in view the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’. Run for Unity’ and pledge taking ceremony were organized, where 433 personnel of Assam Rifles, 22 CRPF personnel, 27 students from Assam Rifles Public School, and 22 GBs/ chairman/ ex-servicemen participated, informed a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North).  

Tuensang: A ‘Run for Unity’ was organized by 40 Assam Rifles in Tuensang Town along with civil administration to foster and reinforce national unity and integrity, the PRO said. Around 100 personnel from 40 Assam Rifles and HQ 7 Sect AR attended the event. A pledge taking ceremony was also organized at Battalion HQ and Company Operating Bases. 40 Assam Rifles also conducted lecture at St John’s School, Tuensang on the theme ‘National Unity’.  

Zunheboto: 5 Assam Rifles celebrated the National Unity Day with students of Zunheboto schools and colleges. During the event, importance of unity and contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during Independence were highlighted. The day culminated with a pledge by all.

Dimapur & Peren: 41 Assam Rifles, 32 Assam Rifles, and 36 Assam Rifles organized a pledge taking ceremony followed by ‘Run for Unity’ in Dimapur, Medziphema, Jalukie and Athibung. A total of 175 students and citizens along with troops of Assam Rifles participated in the event, the release informed.
