AR to conduct National Level Seminar on NER

Shillong, June 20 (MExN): With the purpose of highlighting the growing importance of North East India, the Director General Assam Rifles will be conducting a two-day National Level Seminar from June 23-24 at the Headquarters of Director General Assam Rifles in Shillong.   Titled, “Unravelling the Political, Economic and Security Influences in NE India and its Impact on the Nuances of Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) Management,” the seminar is also aimed at making people aware of the potential and strategic importance of the region, a press release from AR informed.   The Seminar will critically analyse issues regarding factors that influence the security situation in the North East, evaluate entire spectrum of external & internal influences on North East India, trace the interplay between border management aspects including Indo Myanmar Border and make an assessment on the impact of security sit on India’s Act East Policy, it said.   It will also provide a common platform for various personalities from fields of academics, military and other government organisations who have expertise and domain specialisation on the region, it added.   The Seminar will be attend by host of dignitaries including Lt. Gen Nirbhay Sharma, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM  (Retd) Governor of Mizoram; PB Acharya, Governor of Nagaland; Tathagata Roy, Governor of Tripura;  and Kiren Rijiju, MoS for Home Affairs.   Other such as Lt Gen PK Singh, PVSM, AVSM,  (Retd), Director USI; Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia, PVSM, AVSM, SM (Retd), Director, Centre for Joint Warfare Studies; Nitin Gokhale;  DK Pathak, Chairman of Ceasefire Monitoring Group; Prof (Dr) Rakesh Dutta and Prof Meena Dutta from Department of Defence & Strategic Studies, Punjab University; Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles; Lt Gen Vinod Khandare, PVSM, AVSM, SM, DG DIA;Lt Gen Anil Chauhan, AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps, Lt Gen Dushyant Singh, AVSM, Chief of Staff Eastern Command and Maj Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Inspector General (East) will take part in the seminar.
