Dimapur, January 23 (MExN): With the objective of “creating an environment of transparency, constructive interaction and most importantly honest feedback,” the Assam Rifles today launched its official Facebook page. It was formally inaugurated by Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles at its Headquarters at Laitkor, Shillong, an AR press note informed. The page called – ‘Sentinels of the North East’ is also linked to the Assam Rifles official website http://www.assamrifles.gov.in/, it said. The Director General Assam Rifles while launching the same said that the new Facebook page was “a bridge to integrate the Force with the people of North East.” It is also aimed at achieving security and stability by the Assam Rifles in the North Eastern region, it added. He also informed about the AR intent to expand its social media presence by launching its Twitter account in the future. A veterans section will be shortly added on its website http://www.assamrifles.gov.in/wherein the Ex Servicemen of the Force can register and share the memories of their service days as well as their present day grievances, the press note added.
