AR organise lecture, hunters’ conclave

Kohima, November 10 (MExN): 5 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) organised a lecture cum awareness programme on various Central and State Government schemes at Government Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto on November 9. The aim of the event was to educate and spread awareness about various Central and State Government schemes to the students, said a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North). Deputy Commandant Nagukato Kiho, Senior Medical Officer, 5 Assam Rifles briefed about the various Government schemes and their benefits to students in local dialect to enable the locals utilise the schemes optimally, the release added.  

In a separate press release, the PRO informed that 15 Assam Rifles organised a hunters’ conclave at Shamator in Tuensang on November 8. The conclave focused on improper handling of firearms by locals resulting in unfavorable incidents, it said. The villagers were made aware about the method of hunting parties to safeguard from any mishaps. During the meeting, issue of wildlife conservation was also discussed. The villagers were sensitised that endangered species in the state are to be protected and a sense of responsibility towards wildlife conservation needs to be instilled among the locals, the release added. A total of 16 GBs/ DBs of nearby villages attended the conclave.
