AR recover arms & cash

Kohima, June 3 (MExN): Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles reportedly recovered cache of arms & ammunition and cash, including foreign currency, from the residence of NNC (NA) general secretary, Vizosieihou Nagi on June 3 in Jotsoma.  

A press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (North) said that an operation was carried out along with police representatives based on specific input of “possession of illegal arm, ammunitions and war like stores and extortion activities” by the NNC (NA) member.  

Two .303 rifle, one double barrel shot gun, one 12 bore rifle, one SBBL rifle, one 9 mm pistol, one 7.65 mm pistol, one .22 mm pen pistol, three magazines of 9 mm, 7.65 mm and .22 mm each were recovered during the operation, the release alleged. Ammunitions recovered were four rounds of 9 mm, 27 rounds of 7.65 mm, 81 rounds of .22 mm, 34 rounds of 12 bore rifle, one 9 mm fired case and one passive night vision binocular, one binocular, it added.  

The release further alleged that total cash amounting to Rs. 10,87,057, which included US dollars 15,671 and Indian currencies worth Rs 38,100 were recovered. Also, “incriminating documents” revealing extortion amount of Rs. 28,08,062/- were recovered, it said.   According to the release, the accused was not present in the house and the recoveries were handed over to Zubza Police Station for further investigation.  

One held with extortion slips

In another incident, Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended an alleged cadre of NSCN (IM) “Civil Wing.” Identified as Moses Zeliang, the cadre was held from Naga Gaon, Dimapur along with 22 extortion slips of NSCN (IM) on June 2, a separate press release from HQ IGAR (N) said. The apprehended person along with the recovery was handed over to Sub Urban Police Station Dimapur for further investigation, it added.
