AR reviews security in Kohima ahead of I-day

Kohima, August 13 (MExN): To ensure incident free celebration of Independence Day 2019, the Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) has carried out a security review of Kohima town and surrounding areas to priorities and co-ordinate security measures, an official release said. 


Joint operations and exercises are also being conducted with Police, CRPF and BSF “to thwart any threat from anti-national elements in coming days,” stated the release issued by Lt Col L Vincent Patton PRO, HQ IGAR (N).


In a first ever, a “joint training and exchange of Intelligence” seminar was also conducted in view of the forthcoming Independence Day Celebration, it said. 


Personnel of Kohima Assam Rifles Battalion, CRPF and BSF have undergone training under one umbrella wherein detailed intelligence sharing was undertaken, it added.  


The release further informed that Quick Reaction Teams of Assam Rifles and CRPF have also “extensively dominated” areas of Officer Hill Colony, Pulebadze, High School Junction in recent past.


A joint exercise of Assam Rifles and CRPF also rehearsed and fine tuned security of Raj Bhavan on August 10, it said, adding: “These security measures are being undertaken so that inimical elements do not disturb peace in Nagaland.”
