Kohima, May 15 (MExN): Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (S), apprehended a drug smuggler carrying Brown Sugar worth Rs 1.16 crore at Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), Khudengthabi on May 14.
Col C Konwer, PRO (Defence) in a press release stated, based on specific input from a reliable source, a team from Khudengthabi post stopped a Black color Auto Rickshaw without registration number which was moving from Moreh to Khudnegthabi.
On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, 42 packets of orange colored powder suspected to be Brown Sugar and weighing approximately 582 gm (including packing material) was found hidden inside the body of the Auto Rickshaw.
The contraband was being transported by one Jampao Khungsai (40 years), resident of Khudengthabi village, Manipur, where there was no other passenger in the Auto Rickshaw. The approximate cost of Brown Sugar was Rs 1.16 crore.
