Are Chokri-Khezha People Backward?

•-The two Chakhesang political Leaders -Chotisü and Khuzholu have shown great courage in correcting a no-longer-relevant-to-the-Chakhesang Community -Backwardness. No doubt the Issue may be popular to the Chakhesang Community and Politicians usually do no like to speak things contrary to popular wishes of their people but the two leaders have shown great courage to advice their community for wider Justice and to be larger hearted.
Prophet Jeremiah and Isaiah spoke courageously for Social Justice in their time and the Writer expected the Religious Leaders of the Community, renowned not only in Nagaland alone but throughout Asia and the World, to speak justice “for your neighbor”: Nothing is more difficult than admit one’s shortcomings in public and I congratulate the two courageous young Leaders.
The United Nations and the civilized World does not use the word ‘Backward’ to describe economically poor people or undeveloped Areas. The word ‘Backward’ is not proper to describe an economically poor and undeveloped Area. The Chokri-Khezha people are neither Back-ward nor Poor. When a majority of a People cultivates enough food grains to last the whole year, that community cannot be described as Poor or Backward.
Chokri-Khezha People are the most efficient Agriculturists among the Naga Communities. Long before modern Scientists preach Rain Harvesting, the Chokri-Khezha people were doing Wet Rice cultivation with harvested Rain Water in their impossibly steep parched hillsides. Because of the curvature of the Earth, it is not easy to have an exactly level Terrace of 500ft; amazingly, in the Chokri-Khezha Area, one often finds Terraces in the field even longer than 500ft constructed with simple implement and ocular sighting without any modern leveling Instruments!
In the Art of Indigenous natural Stone works for Embankments, Abetments and Stone walls, the Chokri-Khezhas are second to none and the UN today recommends such indigenous natural stone-works, rather than impractically costly Cement-Mortar Masonry works in Poor undeveloped African-Asian and Latin American rural Areas. Let all Christian Naga Communities consider what it can contribute to Nagaland rather than expect everything from the State.
