Arms licence holders asked to produce documents

Kohima, January 16 (DIPR): Special Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, S.R Saravanan has in a notification on December 22, 2017 directed all arms licence holders in possession of valid arms licence(s) issued by the State Government of Nagaland, various Deputy Commissioners, Commissioner of Police either residing in Nagaland or in other States and Union Territories in India to produce their arms licences and all relevant documents to the nearest Police Station against the address mentioned in the licences issued. Further Licensing Authorities have also been directed to ensure that all arms are deposited as per the Election Commission's guidelines.  

The Government of Nagaland has initiated a verification drive for all Arms licences issued by the State Government in view of the forthcoming General Elections to the Legislative Assembly in the State of Nagaland and in pursuance of the directives of the Election Commission of India. The deadline for submission and compliance is January 20. Non-compliance to this directive shall lead to cancellation of the licences as per relevant section of Law, stated the notification.
