Kohima, September 12 (MExN): The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on September 11 dedicated the state’s’ first Sainik School in East Siang District.
The Sainik School began its first academic session with an intake of 60 students selected from all over Arunachal and other parts of the country, informed a press release from PRO (Defence), Kohima.
Congratulating the first-batch students, Khandu also expressed appreciated the Goalpara Sainik School Principal, Captain Edwin Jothirajan’s efforts to ensure the early establishment of the school, it said.
According to a report in the Arunachal Times, the Chief Minister also informed during the inauguration that the “decision for locations of other two Sainik Schools in the state will be reached with due consultation to cover the eastern and western belts of the state.”
He said the opening of Sainik Schools would provide opportunities for the youths of the state to pursue careers in the armed forces, and other prestigious careers, it added.
Among other dignitaries, the function was attended by Maj Gen Bhaskar Kalita, GOC Formidable Fifty Six; State’s Health Minister Alo Libang and Education Secretary Madhurani Teotia.
