Assam Rifles activities across Nagaland

Dimapur, March 25 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions in Nagaland under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized various events in different places recently.  

Mokokchung: Mokokchung battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a lecture cum awareness programme at Battalion Headquarters in Mokokchung on March 20. Captain Chandan Kumar addressed 35 members of all wards of Mokokchung Town and educated the youth about recruitment in the Army, informed a press release from HQ IGAR (N).  

Peren: Jalukie battalion organised lecture cum seminar on importance of education for students and parents at Community Hall, New Chalkot village, Peren on March 19. Organised with an aim to spread awareness on different types of educational opportunities in the nation, the event included a small talk and interaction with parents and students on the modern education system, according to the AR. A total of 65 persons attended the event.  

Phek: Phek battalion of Assam Rifles conducted career counseling for students at Government Higher Secondary School, Phek Town on March 20. The lecture highlighted details of various opportunities available after Class 10 & 12, including the Central and State government educational scholarship schemes. During the event, five students from Government Higher Secondary School, Phek Town who had undergone National Integration Tour shared their experience of the trip to New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, informed another press release. A total of 150 students attended the career counseling.  

Tuensang: A weapon display cum awareness on agricultural innovation was organized by Assam Rifles battalion at Longkhim Town on March 19. Varieties of weapons were displayed for the people to see, while an exhibition on farming was also organized for making livelihood easy in remote places, stated HQ IGAR (N). Local innovators also took keen interest in the innovations displayed by NGO ‘Better Life Foundation,’ it added.  

Wokha: Wokha battalion of Assam Rifles organized a debate competition on the theme ‘Say No to Drug’ at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chukitong. The aim of the debate was to create awareness among the youth on the ill effects of drug abuse, a press release from HQ IGAR (N) stated, adding it highlighted the harm being caused by drug abuse in Nagaland and the NE States. A total of 50 students from the school attended the debate competition.
