Assam Rifles apprehend alleged arms dealer

Dimapur, July 14 (MExN): The 28 Assam Rifles reportedly recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a search operation at a house in New Town, Tseminyu on July 11. One person identified as Sohilo Kent (41) was apprehended in this connection, a press release from the AR informed. The recoveries included two 303 Rifles (modified), one 12 Bore Rifle (Double Barrel), four 12 Bore Rifles, six Muzzle loaded Rifles, one 303 Magazine, 83 live rounds of 303, seven live rounds of 7.62, five live rounds of 5.56, eight live rounds of 7.62 AK-47, 25 live rounds of 9 mm, 20 live rounds of .22 and 29 blank rounds of 303, the release added. The accused along with the recovered arms and ammunition was later handed over to Tseminyu Police Station for further investigation.    

Ganja worth Rs. 50 lakh seized

The Assam Rifles seized ganja worth Rs. 50 lakhs during a search operation at Diezephe, Dimapur on July 12. According to a press release from the AR, the 32 AR received information regarding presence of NSCN (K) cadre, thus, along with police representative it launched an operation during which 21 packets of ganja weighing 330.25 kg worth Rs 49,53,750 was recovered from a Maruti Gypsy. One 18-year-old person was arrested in this regard. The accused along with the recovered items was later handed over to Sub Urban Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.    

Liquor worth Rs. 5.86 lakh recovered

Based on specific information, the 9 Assam Rifles launched an operation at the Dimapur Road Junction, near Tsiesema Basa village in Kohima district on July 12 and recovered 168 cases of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth around Rs 5,86,560. The huge amount of liquor was recovered from a Mahindra Scorpio bearing registration No. NL 03 1276, informed another press release from Assam Rifles. In this regard, two persons identified as Kheboto Sumi (25), driver of the vehicle, and Malo Naleo (21), were arrested. The duo along with the recovered liquor and vehicle were handed over to Chiephobozou Police Station for further investigation and action, an AR release informed.
