Assam Rifles apprehend five people

  Kohima, March 10 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions in Nagaland under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted operations in the last two days and apprehended five people from different places.   Naginimora battalion recovered IMFL in Mon district on March 9 during search of a vehicle (Santro - Regd No. AS 23H 0317) on Lungwa-Tang-Mon road and apprehended two people. The recovered liquor consisted of 204 bottles of MC rum and 120 cans of beer worth Rs 69000, according to a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The two apprehended for illegal possession of the liquor have been identified as Menton Konyak (27) and Nahtei Konyak (25). Both along with the recovered items were handed over to Police Station Mon for further investigation, the release added.   In another incident, Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles based on specific input regarding presence of arms peddler in 4th Mile, Dimapur launched an operation on March 10 resulting in apprehension of two identified as Kuhoi Swu (48) and Sabir (20). “The recovery included one pistol Beretta Gardone VT, two 12 bore gun (double barrel each), .22 mm and 12 bore live rounds,” HQ IGAR (N) stated. The apprehended along with recovered items were handed over to Dipupahar Police Station for further investigation, it said.   Meanwhile, Mokokchung battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) apprehended one person during an operation conducted in a house based on specific information along with a police representative in Tuli Town on March 9. The apprehended person identified as T Sunep (28) was held along with unauthorised weapons, Assam Rifles alleged in another press release. The recoveries from the operation included one .22 rifle, one muzzle loaded rifle, two twelve bore rifles, rifle parts and ammunition of different calibres, it said. The apprehended along with recovered items was handed over to Police Station Tuli for further investigation, according to Assam Rifles.
