Kohima, April 26 (MExN): Assam Rifles battalions under the the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) apprehended several people from different places of Nagaland in the last few days.
Kohima: Kohima battalion apprehended an NSCN (IM) cadre during an operation conducted along with police representative in Mohankhola, Kohima on April 24. “Incriminating documents,” 7.62 mm rifle with magazine, 9mm live round and Rs. 13,770/- in cash were recovered from the cadre identified as Kevingol Sophie (35), Leacy of NSCN (IM), according to a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The documents included 16 “extortion money receipts” and “various NSCN (IM) letters which reveals extortion of Rs. 15,63,37,020/- from various agencies,” the release alleged.
Longkhim: Assam Rifles troops reportedly apprehended two NSCN (K) cadres along with illegal arms and incriminating documents in Longkhim Town on April 25. A press release from PRO, HQ IGAR (N) has identified the two as Kanato Sema (23) and Hukheto Sema (33). The recoveries from the individuals included “one .32 pistol with magazine, 25 extortion slips, GPRN/NSCN(K), 49 leaves GPRN/NSCN(K) identity cards for non locals,” the release alleged.
Dimapur: Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended an individual allegedly in possession of illegal weapons and ammunition in Sovima village on April 25. The person has been identified as Vikuosa Mepfhuo (38). HQ IGAR (North) in a press release claimed that the recoveries from the individual included one AK 56 rifle, one .303 rifle with magazine and bayonet, two .22 mm rifles, two 12 bore gun single barrel, one 9mm pistol with magazine, one .32 mm pistol Beretta, two magazine AK 56 Rifle, two magazine .32 mm pistol, eleven live rounds of .22 mm pistol, four live rounds of 7.62 mm, four live rounds of 7.65 mm, 32 live rounds of 12 bore gun, two fired case of 12 bore gun..
Mon: Mon battalion apprehended an NSCN (K) cadre at Jahjon Ward, Mon Town on April 24. The cadre identified as Lt Chemang Pongmei (28) was apprehended with “incriminating photos/documents,” alleged Assam Rifles..
Zunheboto: Zunheboto battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended NSCN (K) cadre identified as Nikato Yeptho (31) at Old Natha, Zunheboto on April 25. “25 extortion slips, 33 non local identity cards and Indian currency worth Rs 19000/- in cash,” were recovered from him, according to Assam Rifles.
All the apprehended persons along with the recovered items were handed over to the respective police stations.
